FIVE goal hero Shane Lock helped Andover and District Sunday League side Nether Wallop to Jimmy Monro Open Cup glory with a 7-5 extra time victory over Broughton.

The prolific striker was in his usual goal-scoring form on Sunday, helping Wallop to secure their second trophy of the season, after they won the Chris Price Open Cup earlier this month.

However Wallop were made to work hard by the defending champions in a close fought game, held at Andover Town’s Portway Stadium.

Wallop got off to a strong start when Lock opened the scoring within two minutes and added a second minutes later.

Broughton fought back and reduced the deficit with a headed goal from a corner.

The defending champions equalised with practically the last kick of the first half when Wallop goalkeeper Wayne Hunt was emphatically beaten from 25 yards.

Wallop quickly regained the lead after the break but Broughton hit back twice, one a penalty, to take a 4-3 lead.

Wallop equalised quickly with Lock’s fourth of the match.

Broughton went in front again only for Jamie Pollard to score from the penalty spot to make it 5-5 and take the game into extra time.

Wallop continued on the front foot in extra time, with Lock scoring his fifth goal of the game and substitute Jackson Da Silva wrapping up the victory with Wallop’s seventh goal.

Lock claimed man-of-the-match but Lee Morris Ne came a close second for his work in midfield.
