ANDOVER Cricket Club is celebrating this year’s success of its ladies and girls with plans for a fully fledged women’s team in 2016.

This summer the ladies at Andover CC seized the opportunity to take part in the Hampshire Cricket board initiative “W10”, an introduction to softball cricket for women who had never played hardball cricket.

This great initiative consisted of 10 training sessions led by Hampshire coach, Natasha, and two all-day cricket tournaments consisting of short format matches.

Sixteen Andover ladies took part in the programme and battled through to the finals section of the competition.

After some hard fought games against other teams from Hampshire, the team finished third.

Andover Cricket Club are also congratulating their Under 15 girls, of whom four have recently been selected for the Hampshire development squad.

Anya Ahl, Brennan Bulpitt, Tally O’Farrell and debutant Emily Cox were all selected following recent trials attended by 29 girls including fellow Andover player, Charlotte Harrison, who narrowly missed out.

Also making a debut in 2016, will be the newly formed Andover Ladies’ team giving a pathway for girls from the age of eight right through to adult cricket.
