A LONGPARISH resident has narrowly missed out on a trip to Mexico after finishing 14th in an international golfing competition.

Amateur golfer, Richard West, took part in the 25th annual Audi quattro UK Cup final competition yesterday, held at the Bowood Golf and Country Club in Wiltshire.

West, who qualified by winning the Salisbury Audi Invitational in June before teaming up with Dirk Pinnell to take second in the Regional Final in August, paired up his former team mate once again to contest the stableford competition.

The pair scored an impressive 28 points but it was not enough to claim the silverware as Kevin Dewhurst (East Sussex) and Glen Fuller (Kent) romped to victory with a score of 38.

The result means West will miss out on a chance to represent Great Britain at the Audi Quattro Cup World Final held in Mexico later this year.

The competition is the largest amateur golfing competition in the world with almost 100,000 players from across 50 countries taking part across the various rounds.
