ANDOVER Town have announced the signing of former Lions and New Street star Bobby Swayne.

The vocal defender, who has been working oversees in the last few years, will make a return to local football next season after agreeing to play for the Portway based club.

Manager Neil Benson exclusively revealed the news to the Andover Advertiser today and he said he is delighted to have secured Swayne's services.

Benson said: "It's great to have him on-board.

"He will bring much needed experience, undoubted quality and leadership to the side.

"Having already played in a pre-season game it seems by the fans reaction he will be a favourite at the club.

Benson also announced the signing of former Alresford Town striker Suhael Odeh.

The powerful target man previously made over 70 appearances for Alresford, 41 of which he made during the club's runners up season in 2013-14.

Talking about the addition, Benson said: "He's got so much power and willingness to chase down everything.

"He works extremely hard for his team and I know he will be a real asset to this club."

Benson also revealed that him and new assistant manager, John Robson, are working on several big signings which they intend to reveal next week.

Talking about the club's pre-season progress he said: "We started off well with a game against Hampshire's U18 squad and followed it up with an impressive 6-1 against Romsey.

"Then last Saturday we carried on our goal scoring form against Baffin Milton Rovers, beating them 8-1 so we are looking really good.

"Pre-season is really just a vehicle we are trying to use bring player's fitness back up but it is a good test to find out how we are looking going in to next season."

Town's next pre-season game sees them face New Milton at Sparsholt College tomorrow at 11am before they return to the same venue for their final friendly on Tuesday 28th at 7pm.
