ANDOVER welcomed top of the table New Milton to London Road for their sixth Southern Premier match of season.

They were looking to register their second win and gave debuts to Robbie Taylor and Aidan Jansen, who both have performed well for the second team.

Andover won the toss and decided to bowl but started in disastrous fashion with the second over disappearing for 18 as New Milton raced to 20 off two overs.

Jansen replaced Darron Augustus and bowled well in tandem with other opener Dave Taylor and removed both openers with great skill, one lbw with a ball that swung back and the other well taken behind by Matt Knight. At the other end Taylor removed the New Milton skipper and after a excellent start New Milton were 35-3.

Jansen bowled through his ten overs to finish with the superb figures of 2-15 and looks to have an excellent future for Andover.

Michael Adams replaced Taylor and Robbie Taylor replaced Jansen and both immediately found their line and length keeping the pressure on. Skipper Matt Hooper immediately broke the resistance capturing three more wickets, one well caught by Luke Andrews.

Augustus returned and showed good resilience bowling brilliantly at the death and captured a wicket for himself and the innings ended on 204-9 from 50 overs which was a competitive total on a good pitch. Andover started well with openers Knight (15) and Ali Hooper (19) seizing on anything loose however, with the score on 33 Hooper was well caught and New Milton had their breakthrough.

Augustus and Knight then fell in quick succession and Andover were 52-3 and Taylor was next to go with adjudged Lbw for 13 before Max Souter was bowled with Andover on 64-5.

This brought skipper Matt Hooper and the returning Andrews together and the pair played carefully but also put the loose ball away and added 44 before Andrews was bowled for 16.

Hooper then went for one shot too many and was caught in the deep for 39 with the 137-8. Jansen joined Taylor and the pair added another 20 runs before Jansen was out LBW.

Andover were bowled out for 157 in the 44th over.
