A 50-YEAR-OLD Sunday League manager bagged himself a goal as his side knocked up an impressive 13-1 victory.

Swallow FC boss Pete Lock was forced to name himself against a nine-man Lee Filters side on Sunday due to a lack of players, However the manager, whose son Shane bagged five goals, didn’t shy away from the action as he stepped up to slot away a first half penalty for his side.

Lock was also joined on the score sheet by left back Kev Bett, who scored a hattrick, as well as Marcus Taylor and Harvey Redstone who grabbed a goal apiece.

Lee Filters also conceded two own goals before netting a goal of their own to bring the final score up to 13-1.

Speaking after the game, Lock said: “We had a bare 11 on the day so I had to get my kit on.

“When we won the penalty I hadn’t scored so all the players put me up to it.

Luckily I scored it!”

Talking about Lee Filters, he added: “I would like to praise the battling nine men who never gave up.” The win was Swallow’s eighth consecutive victory and brings them within five points of league leaders Broughton.
