ANDOVER Town manager Neil Benson has told of his “delight” at seeing star striker Michael Dixon back on the score sheet.

The lethal finisher bagged an impressive 34 goals last season in leading his side to promotion from Sydenhams Division 1, but has failed to live up to expectation this year with just six league goals since August.

However just one of those goals came before November, with the striker knocking in five in the last four games, including a winning brace away at Bournemouth last weekend.

Benson said: “The key is that he is fit and injury free.

“He started with a few niggles and we had to work hard with him to help him get his fitness back.

“But we are beginning to see the best of him again now and he’s scoring, which I’m obviously delighted about.”

Benson also talked about Town’s upcoming game at home to the league’s bottom team, Totton and Eling, on Saturday.

He said: “The thing with games like these is you can’t afford to be complacent.

“They are on a poor run and they must be really low on confidence but at some point that will change.

“We just need to be professional and make sure that it’s not against us and also give our fans a spectacle to watch.”

Kick-off for the match at the Portway Stadium is 3pm.
