ANDOVER Lions crashed out of the Andover Open Cup on Tuesday night at Foxcotte Park.
Lions often looked the better footballing side but Swifts battled for every ball and their determination saw them through. Lions had several good chances early on and a combination of poor finishing and good goal keeping from Ware kept the scores level.
On 12 minutes Swifts took the lead when Readman's direct free-kick found net. And just before the break Lang headed home from the edge of the box to increase the home lead.
The second half was virtually all Lions and two minutes after the restart they pulled a goal back through Gilbert to get back in the game and threw everything at the hosts.
Readman's second goal, direct from a free-kick on the hour, restored Swifts’ two goal cushion and it was needed as the Lions poured forward.
Josh Hind pulled a goal back ten minutes from time after a strong run from midfield, but Swifts held on to secure a tie against White Hart, who overcame The Arms.
