Andover’s netball players as they gathered together for a minute’s silence in honour of Jane Bartlett, Transplus Tiger’s young, athletic and talented GD, who died suddenly last week leaving the whole league in utter shock.

Simplyhealth 19 Adventure Sabres 52

Simplyhealth and Sabres tried to get their heads together into the first quarter but it was obvious that the atmosphere was hard to shake off. The second quarter saw some brilliant defending from Sabres’ Jemma Harrop and Tess Bailey which isolated Simply’s shooters, however great team work from Paula Burgess and Charlotte Barnes made it difficult to mark at times which lead to a good run of goals for Simplyhealth in the last quarter. Sabres borrowed their B team player Dani Brown who kept a cool head against Lauren Webb and Donna Bowsher who were difficult defence to shoot against.

Adventure Blades 63 Simply ACES 38

ADVENTURE and Simplyhealth’s B teams took to the court for the second round of matches of the evening and Blades settled quickly with Lyndsey Pratt controlling centre court with energy and enthusiasm despite a recent injury.

Nicky Chewins was an excellent back-up as the two ladies moved the ball quickly into their shooters. Aces’ sister act Kim Belbin and Andrea Westley were the dominant force in their team with Kim’s clean shots at goal causing admiration even from their opponents. A good night for Team Adventure.

The Globe 15 Andover Arrows 65 ARROWS got off to a strong start and took an early lead against a mixed Globe team featuring many new players.

The Globe worked hard throughout to try and close the gap, however a very finely tuned Arrows team proved too much for them. Globe struggled to get the ball past a very strong defence, especially player of the match for Andover Arrows Rebecca Parker at goal defence while Arrows linked well up and down the court, scoring on every opportunity from both shooters.

The Globe worked until the end with some excellent feeds into the circle from wing attack Sharon Stockwell Smith.

Covergirl 55 Andover Arrows Y 33 COVERGIRL

Academy faced a challenge with the youthful fit opposition of Arrows Yellow, however their experience secured a comfortable third win of the season. Tammy Aldridge was player of the match for Covergirl Academy.
