Wyke Down Argyle 5 Lardi Royals 0

LEWIS McCarthy was the hat-trick hero last weekend as Wyke Down Argyle smashed five past Lardi Royals.

However it wasn’t plain sailing for Argyle who gave away a penalty in the first ten minutes, which the Royals were unable to convert.

The home side quickly steadied the ship and it wasn’t long before they broke the deadlock when a Liam Campbell free-kick found McCarthy, who powered a header in for the first of his three goals.

The striker got his second before half-time when he burst through the Royals’ defence and slotted home to give Argyle a comfortable 2-0 lead going into the break.

Argyle came out fighting again after the interval and goals from Andy McMahon and Luke Ayres gave the home side an impressive four goal advantage.

However McCarthy refused to let the opportunity of a hat-trick slip away and was rewarded for his efforts in the final minutes when he fired past the keeper to claim the match ball and give Argyle an impressive 5-0 win.
