Andover Lions 4 Hayling Utd 4.

Lions gained their first home point of the season on Saturday with a 4-4 draw with new boys Hayling United but will feel that it should have been more after letting a three goal lead slip with just ten minutes left.

The first half saw them playing with confidence and their finishing was first class.

A stunning half volley from John Robb gave them the lead and Tom Gilbert quickly doubled it with a crisp strike from just inside the box. Casson Spencer capped a fine first half display by seizing on a mistake by the visiting keeper to roll in a third just before the break.

Hayling got back into the game just before the hour through Matt Kirby when Lions failed to deal with a corner but they restored their three goal advantage when Nick Dadds headed a superb fourth that should have secured the points.

Hayling, to their credit, refused to give up and threw everything at the Lions for the remainder of the match.

Barry Keogh made it 4-2 on 68 minutes and Grant Dove scored the third with ten minutes left.

Lions’ misery was complete when Robb was harshly adjudged to have handled in the 90th minute and Ryan Summers smashed home the resultant penalty.

On Saturday Lions travel to Netley Central for a league game, kick off 3pm.
