Arrows Yellow 50 Simply Aces 40.

The start of the new netball season is very exciting time for many of the Arrows Yellow team as it is their first taste of winter fixtures.

Many are just 14 and have used the Summer League to gain valuable experience.

This first fixture was an excellent game with close scores at the end of each quarter.

Simply Aces’ Kim Belbin (GS) Andrea Westley (GA) and Jude Fleet (WA) showed great flair in attack with their experience showing. Arrows’ nerves settled quickly and they soon got into their stride with consistent and accurate shooting from Lily Bissell and Kiera Grimison winning 50-40. Best players were Lily Bissell (GS Arrows) and Kirsten Hasiam (GD Simply Aces).

Vernham Vixens 55 Amazons 42.

A fast, tough first game of the season for Vernham Vixens against Amazons, a new team to the Andover League.

There was strong shooting from both sides but despite Vixens’ new player, GK Jess Weymouth's great efforts at defending and her quick interceptions, Amazons were leading at half-time 30-22.

With GA Lenny Drummond on great form, Amazons kept ahead, finishing the game on 55-22.

Simplyhealth 9 Arrows 45.

The first game of the season was a bad start for Simplyhealth.

Arrows were players down at the start – leaving only one in defence should have given Simplyhealth a good start but they found it hard to find their flow.

Player of the match GD Rebecca Parker for Arrows had a fantastic game and intercepted nearly every ball leaving Simplyhealth with no other options.

Swans 39 Abbotts Ann 25.

This was a closely-contested match on the first night of the season, particularly in its early stages.

At the end of the first quarter the teams were level at 6-all but Swans pulled ahead to lead 18-11 at half-time and maintained it winning the match 39-25.
