Commonnal stage at the European Team Championships.wealth Games table tennis star Hannah Hicks has the chance to shine again on the international stage.

The 23-year-old Leckford player has been named in the squad to travel to Lisbon next month.

She is joined in the women's line-up by Joanna Drinkhall, Kelly Sibley and Tin-Tin Ho, all of whom won medals in the mixed doubles in Glasgow – Drinkhall taking gold alongside her husband Paul, 15-year-old Ho winning silver with Liam Pitchford and Sibley claiming bronze alongside Danny Reed.

Pitchford and Paul Drinkhall are in the men's squad for Lisbon, alongside fellow Glasgow competitor Sam Walker, plus Darius Knight.

Andrew Baggaley and Reed, the other members of the Commonwealth Games squad, were not available for selection, Baggaley for family reasons and Reed as he has university commitments.

The men’s squad are looking to emulate their achievement at the World Team Championships in Tokyo in May, when they won the Challenger Division to return to the top tier – the Championship Division – after a 17-year gap.

And if they repeat the feat in Portugal, they would also have the added bonus of qualifying for the inaugural European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, next summer.

The championships take place in Lisbon from September 24 to 28.
