Andover Wheelers were out in force at the recent Farnham Road Club four-up team time trial with three teams taking part.

The event is held over a fast-rolling course of 25 miles and the teams of four start together with four-minute gaps between each. The clock stops when the third rider crosses the finish line.

First to the start line were Alastair Currie, Dan Mason, Nick Pickering and Stephen Longman. All rode well to finish well under the hour recording a time of 58:10.

The next Wheelers’ team were David Sloan, Gary Burley, Peter Harris and Stewart Harrison who pulled out all the stops to trim 26 seconds off their compatriots’ time, stopping the clock at 57:44.

Out of 15 teams taking part these times were good enough for the ninth and eighth places overall.

The final team to start were Gary Parmenter, Nigel Pratt, Simon Healey and Duncan Lancashire, who set a scorching pace to complete the course in 53:10 – a time not only fast enough to claim bragging rights to be the fastest Wheelers team but to win the event overall, edging out Winchester’s Velo Club Venta by just five seconds.
