Andover girl Dawn Boyd will be out on track among a host of Classic Touring Cars this Sunday in her Honda Civic Type R. It is an additional race to the series’ calendar and she expects to reach speeds in excess of 130mph through in the infamous Church and Woodham Hill at the fastest track in the country. The Classic Touring Cars are joined on the programme by Formula 3 and Classic Ferraris.

Dawn is fresh back from Cadwell Park where she had some tough competition with a new racer to the Production Class who knew the circuit very well. Cadwell is a bit of a Nemesis for Dawn as she has had some very unfortunate incidents there in the past so she and the Finsport team were very happy to have two very entertaining and clean races with great lap time improvements over the weekend. Qualifying went well on the Saturday morning and her lap times tumbled placing her fourth on the grid among the faster Tuner Class cars.

Launching off the line in race one she pulled ahead and kept the Tuners behind for several laps until their outright speed difference won out on the straights. Dawn finished fifth overall and second in class. Race two on Sunday was dry again and Dawn improved her lap times with sheer determination and some bravery through the fast corners as she entertained the crowd finishing fourth overall with another second in class.

Dawn is having a very successful 2014 season, currently leading her class and the overall series with six class wins and four second places and hopes to continue her great results at the final races at Brands Hatch on September 7 and the legendary Spa Francorchamps in October.
