Whitchurch United’s Longmeadow ground was the fitting venue for the 25th and final Dango Memorial match, this year played between teams representing Scotland and England.
A good crowd meant that nearly £500 was raised for the McMillan Cancer Trust.
The England squad won a light hearted game 6-2 but that was incidental to the day itself, organised by Mick Bugg who was himself involved in the first Dango day, 25 years ago.
Mick said after the day: “Thank you to everyone who helped with the day including Paula Plain, Cara Lewis, Whitchurch United FC for hosting it and everyone else who turned up.”
The Wessex League sponsored the match balls and at the presentation ceremony England boss for the day, Steve Murphy presented the Dango Cup to Margo Anderson, Glenn and Stuart’s mum to keep while Stuart was given the Titch King Memorial Plate. All signed a football for dad Jock Anderson in commemoration of 25 years of the Dango.
