There was a great turn out last Sunday at the Wolversdene Club for the two player John Taylor event.

Fifty six took to the oche in a great day of darts with players from many counties supporting the event .

There were great efforts from the young Academy stars who showed great ability and character, as Matt Gibson Smith beat Swindon’s Lee Evans 3-2 but unfortunately lost his match overall in the pairs with Shane Reidy.

More positives came throughout the day with Andover’s Ali Macdonald and Richie Ford reaching the quarter-finals along with Swindon’s Andy McAllister and Nick Budgen, Dorset’s Colin Littlecott and Dale Mastermind and Berkshire’s Shane Harvey and Kev Morley .

Swindon’s Dave Wicks and Evans were eliminated in the semi-final by Andover’s Arron Monk and Vince Tipple, as were Swindon’s Paul Cook and Tony Moulden by Hampshire’s Paul Gibbs and Berkshire’s Paul Hogan.

Congratulations went to Hogan after being selected for the England international squad for the second time .

The final saw Hogan beat Monk in a very close first singles match as did Gibbs against Tipple Thanks went to Annie Nicklen for helping with the presentations and the next event is the Andover Open (replacing the Classic) which is currently full but any who wish to add their name to the reserve list should contact Mark Thorne via his Facebook page of events or call 07795515403.
