Penton v Wilton.
Wayne Green became temporary captain of the day for Penton and continued the recent form of losing the toss.
Openers John Hunter and Richard Jenson (75) pushed the score along quickly, but Hunter was out in the seventh over with the score at 44.
Huw Rouse then joined Jenson and the run rate was maintained until he was bowled by Rob Powell in the 15th over with the score at 87.
Paul Stanford (23) was bowled by Prabhu Sethau in the 19th over with the score at 118 and Jenson was finally caught by Powell off Chris Hillier for a well deserved 75.
Wayne Green was uncharacteristically out quickly but Steve Patrick (31) and new player Bevon Joseph (49no) kept pushing the score along.
Patrick was caught by Powell off Jon Shergold on 182 in the 31st over and Kerry Charles (19) then took the score went through 200 before Penton ended on 240-9 in the 42 overs.
Wilton’s openers Powell and Ganesh Sankaran were aware of the high run rate required, but Powell was bowled by Charles (3-39) in the sixth ove and Sankaran was caught by Martin Patrick off Joseph with the score at 57.
Sachin Chavan (51) batted well, along with Nick Hillier (22) and Dinesh Viswanathan (21) who all kept the score moving but the tailenders were unable to keep up the momentum, and they were all out for 154.
Penton are now third in the league and can hopefully maintain their form in the next game at Redlynch and Hale III .
