Having not raced since the end of May at Donington Park Stocckbridge rider Leon Morris has had time to reflect on a great start to the Ducati Triopions Cup, as he has been top of the championship table since round one writes Tim Crisp.

As he and the team headed the 446 miles north to the Knockhill Racing Circuit in Dunfermline, Scotland, thoughts were on how to continue with this great start. This was the first time that this championship had raced at the small tight Scottish circuit.

In all sport ‘to finish first, first you have to finish’ and this started on Friday with free practice continuing in qualifying for the first of their two races.

Morris was showing that his bike was by far the quickest posting top speed times of over 135 mph and on Saturday his first race saw him start from the second row of the grid. He settled down and on lap four the Number 2 Ducati moved up to second place, where he finished 1.35 seconds behind P&H Motorcycle teammate Dennis Hobbs.

Race two was on Sunday and again it was a 15 lap race with Leon starting from the front row in second place but he dropped down to third position by the end of lap one.

He stayed there until lap ten when Leon got into second place, again behind Hobbs, but this time Leon was 2.3 seconds adrift at the flag but over seven seconds ahead of the third place rider.

So as the championship heads to Brands Hatch in Kent on July 20 where Morris has increased his championship points total to 135 and a lead of 23 points over team mate Hobbs.
