Andover III v Dinton.

Andover III fell to a narrow defeat at home to Dinton after needing just two runs off the last ball but failing to get over the finish line.

After losing the toss and being asked to field, the town side went about their work in efficient fashion with young gun Robbie Taylor taking 4-13 off ten overs, an incredible effort from the teenager.

Sycamore and O'Neil rebuilt the Dinton innings putting on a handy middle order partnership, with O'Neil bringing up his half century.

However, the swing bowling duo of Matt Goodman and youngster Olly Cox saw four quick wickets fall at crucial times which helped to restrict the opposition to a low total, nicely complimented by father and son seamers, Andy and Jack McMahon.

With Dinton ending on 152-9 off 45 overs, Andover felt they had a chance of victory.

A shaky start from the Andover top order, as they struggled against the guile of Hannaford and Allen, left the lower order plenty to do in the second half of the innings. Cox and Patrick Case produced an excellent partnership at the perfect time, scoring 29 and 33 respectively and getting the home side within touching distance of the total.

It all came down to the last ball with Goodman on strike and two required for a tie, three for a win but he was bowled a gem of a delivery and a scampered single was the most the final pair could manage, leaving Andover agonisingly close to victory.
