Sixteen of the Hampshire Golf Club ladies took part in a golf charity event recently which took the form of a coffee morning preceded by golf at the Charlton Lakeside Golf Course.
Jane Holland organised the whole successful event in aid of the ladies’ section’s chosen charity for 2014, the Ark Cancer Centre in Basingstoke.
Aiming to raise £5m in three years, the Ark will be a purpose built cancer centre offering chemotherapy and radiotherapy alongside palliative care and general support.
The ladies would like to thank Valley Leisure for their kindness in allowing them to play the par three course.
The weather remained dry and the ladies tackled the tight course, and the winner was Liz Eames.
She was joined by several ladies for coffee and cake at Jane Holland’s house, who then presented Liz with a gift for an accurate, short game of golf.
The total of £137 was raised on the day for The Ark.
The ladies also played a friendly match at Test Valley Golf Club in early June and the team consisting of Lori Channon, Linda Baxendale, Audrey Welfare, Liz Eames, Tracey Price and Jane Holland gained an excellent away 2.5-1.5 victory.
