A successful weekend’s work with two class wins and a third overall Honda trophy for Andover girl racer Dawn Boyd at Silverstone. The International Circuit was new to Dawn and the heavens opened just as she prepared to go out for qualifying and in monsoon conditions the car steamed up badly and she could see nothing out of the windscreen.

She was forced to stop to clear the window and it left her with plenty to do i with 43 cars on the grid, most of which were starting ahead of her!

Race one in the sunshine was a rolling start that seemingly about 80 per cent of the grid were not ready for. The racers expected to be sent out from pits to form up on the grid, green flag lap, then rolling start, but the rolling start began as soon as they reached the lights and the grid were spread out for half the length of the circuit.

Dawn had a good race overall and despite an oil spill down the whole length of the start/finish straight the Finsport prepared car performed faultlessly. She passed 15 cars to get herself back up to the sharp end to win her class.

Race two was also in the warmer sun with a standing start and Dawn had a great get away passing several cars in the first few corners, some of which caught her up again on the straights with pure speed of faster classes.

She had a great battle with some Fiestas and they exchanged places several times before the end of a good clean race, and there were smiles and hand shakes all round in Parc Ferme.

Dawn was four seconds a lap faster than race one and she won her class, was third in the Honda group and 14th overall out of 43. A great weekend with thanks to MeisterR and Finsport and her next races are at Cadwell Park in July.
