Andover Triathlete Jason Briley has completed the Double Enduroman race – an ultra triathlon event which is twice the distance of an Ironman.

Double Enduroman, which is held in the New Forest, consists of a 4.8 miles swim and 232 mile cycle concluding with a 52 mile run. Athletes have 43 hours to complete the course.

Cheered on by countless friends and club mates Jason exited the swim in 3.23 hours, just seven minutes inside the cut off. After a short rest he embarked on the bike leg which went on through the night. Supported by his crew, Jason eventually finished cycling at at 2.30am after more than 18 hours.

After a short sleep Jason hit the run where he was joined throughout Sunday by many friends, some of whom ran with him.

Eventually he reached the last one-mile lap of the run course where in a fantastic Enduroman tradition, the athlete turns round and runs the last lap in the opposite direction so he can receive the applause and congratulations of his fellow competitors still on the course.

Jason finished to a thunderous reception is 36hrs 39 minutes 42 seconds and was the 14th finisher out of 23 starters Briley would like to thank all support from Andover Tri crew members Stu Crawford, Jase Lewis, Sewart Carey-Hodges, Paul Wills for running over 13 miles of it and his wife Hilary.
