Over Wallop v St Cross Symonds V.

Wallop lost the toss and unsurprisingly were asked to bat on a slow low pitch after yet more recent rain.

An opening stand of 38 between Mark Richards and Andy Cook laid the foundation and with solid contributions from both Joel Pinchbeck and Roy Cavill, Wallop were set for a promising score at 95-3. Unfortunately a dramatic collapse saw wickets fall without another notable partnership until Over Wallop were all out for 124.

Despite losing an early wicket, St Cross made slow but steady progress to 85-3 before skipper - and reluctant bowler - Paul Cullen bought himself on and ended up helping to change the game with a decisive haul of 4-26. Suddenly it was St Cross collapsing to fall short of the target with 110 all out.

Omer Tufial took the final wicket of this tense low-scoring game but it did seem that a short spell from 16-year old Johnny Macey may have contained the key moment. His first wicket from his bowling in Wallop whites- with a caught behind taken by keeper Cook - triggered a huge change in how this game was moving forward. With this wicket, Wallop regained hope and encouraged further by a notable one-handed catch from Pinchbeck turned probable defeat into a hard-fought victory.
