Farley II v Thruxton.

Thruxton recorded their second win of the season in what turned out to be a comfortable victory against Farley II.

Asked to bat first JPD Property Services sponsored Thruxton were soon in trouble when they lost their first wicket in the second over with just three runs on the board and by the fifth over they were 31-3 when Ben Simpson lost his wicket for 22.

Matt Knight and Sam Newton staged a recovery of sorts with a 41 run partnership before the latter was bowled for 11 and Knight soon followed with what turned out to be Thruxton's top score of 28 at 76-5.

Some lusty blows from Dean Cresswell pushed the score to 96-7 and a fine eighth wicket partnership of 35 between 15- year old Johnny Darling (18) and Steve Winstone (15) helped Thruxton post a defendable total of 141 all out.

Ian Swain was by far the best bowler for Farley taking 5-35 off his ten overs.

Adam Mills soon had Farley in trouble taking two wickets in his third over with the score on 19 and by the tenth over he had taken 3-8.

The wiley Cresswell and youngster Darling kept up the pressure with some superb bowling, Cresswell took 2-19 off his seven overs and Darling 2-14 off six.

Knight and Adam Mills returned to wrap up the tail with Knight taking 2-15 off and Mills a superb 4-8 off 6.2 overs, leaving Farley on 63 all out.
