A successful weekend on Andover Bowls Club’s Recreation Road green with wins in the Men’s Top Club on Saturday 3-2 and again on Sunday in the Mixed Top Club against Waterside.

On Monday the visitors were Cricklade playing their final game of a four day tour and in a rain affected game which did not detract from the enjoyment of the day, the home side were victorious by five shots.

The post match proceedings were a great success with a fine meal and presentation of prizes with entertainment by the visitors.

In the league the weather took it’s toll with the Stan Hardman game with Whitchurch called off as was the Basingstoke and District game at Kingsclere.

In the Salisbury and District Men’s League Team Two travelled to Amesbury losing 12-2.

The next opponents in the Mixed Top Club will be Atherley at home on a date to be arranged.

In the Ladies Basingstoke League Andover beat Ivydown Oakley home and away to go second in the league with the same points as the leaders but with a smaller shot difference.

In the Ladies County Pairs competition Jackie Kingston and Cynthia Hamilton won their round 26-25.

Having come back from 10-0 down they scored a hot shot maximum on the 15th end to turn the game in their favour.

The pair play the next round at home tomorrow.
