David Hickton from Andover was competing in the SVG Motorsport Pre 93 Touring Car Championship at Snetterton in Norfolk in his BMW M3.

On the 2.96 mile circuit Hickton had one qualifying session on the Saturday followed by two races the next day.

After heavy overnight rain the track was dry when Hickton was one of 19 cars for the qualifying session and after completing seven laps he posted 2:15.443 to put himself fourth on the grid representing an average speed of 78:91 mph.

Sunday morning saw Hickton take to a very wet track for his first race over 15 minutes and he made a good start in tricky conditions and was soon up to racing speed with standing water making full racing speeds hard.

After six laps Hickton finished fifth overall and third in class and his fastest time of 2:36.685 was more than 20 seconds slower than his qualifying time, such were the conditions.

Hickton went back out for the last race of the day and the track was still wet as rain had been falling on and off most of the day and the conditions on the track were worse than for his first race earlier in the day.

A safe start put Hickton on his way and he had to be careful on some corners to keep the car on the track for the sixth laps in the allotted 15 minutes and he once again finished fifth overall and third in class.

Hickton will next race his BMW in the same championship at Silverstone in June.
