Wessex League Division One basement club Hayling United embarrassed Anodver New Street yesterday by beating them 6-0 at Foxcotte Park. Four goals from Brad Sylvester and two from Scott Hamilton gave the seasiders only their fourth win of the season as they leapfrogged New Street who now take over the wooden spoon position.
In the Premier Division Whitchurch United's horrible spell continued as they went down at home once again, this time by the only goal to Portchester at Longmeadow.
With the news that they had also been thrown out of the Andover League Open Cup for fielding an ineligible player against Otterbourne in the semi-final, Jim Macey's battle weary troops can't wait for the end of the season but have to drag themselves to Brockenhurst on Tuesday night for another league game.
