Appleshaw man takes Super 7 Challenge
A professional shooting instructor from Ragged Appleshaw is celebrating after winning the 2014 Stratstone Super 7 Challenge.
John Heagren came out on top seeing off fierce competition including 22 time world clay shooting champion George Digweed.
With 300 competitors taking part in previous qualifying rounds only 20 finalists competed in the final held at the Royal Berkshire Shooting School on 21 February.
John said: “My score was 18 out of 25 as I went through to a nail-biting shoot-off against Ed Solomons and came out victorious.
The Clays were very challenging, released off a 120ft high tower at immense speed and from a minimum 40 yards to an outrageous 70 yards, against the sun and in windy conditions.”
Shooting 23 out of 25 targets saw the shooter win a super car for life including an Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Porsche 911 Carrera but John fell just short.
John added: “As I was five targets shy of winning the super car outright, I now have the use of a Morgan sports car for six months. I am delighted to have won a beautiful car for the summer!”
