With Andover Town having got past Ludgershall Sports last Monday and Andover Lions easing past the Swallow some time ago , the draw which many local football people were hoping for has pitted the two in the semi-final of the Andover League Open Cup on Tuesday March 4.

The date has now been confirmed and for what will be an emotional night for a number who were associated with Andover FC and will almost certainly attract the biggest crowd of the season at the newly reopened Portway Stadium.

Meanwhile the coming week is looking very busy locally with the Sparsholt Saints elite side taking on Gosport Borough, venue to be confirmed, this afternoon.

With Stockbridge having withdrawn from all competitions Whitchurch have been given a bye to the final of the North Hants Senior Cup which means they have now brought forward to Tuesday, their Andover League Open Cup tie Andover League Kingsclere.

Andover Lions are home to New Inn in the North Hants Intermediate Cup at Charltontomorrow  while just down the road Andover Town entertain Pewsey Vale in the Wessex League.

On Wednesday the Sparsholt elite boys are in action once again as they entertain Colchester United in the Conference Youth League Cup at the Portway, kick-off at noon then in the evening Andover New Street are away at Amesbury Town, weather permitting.

The Sparsholt College side, made up mainly of Andover Town's U18s, play their eagerly awaited ESFA National U18 Trophy semi-final with Stanmore College, of Middlesex on Monday March 3. Again it is at the Portway at noon and the winners contest the final at the former Coventry City home, the Ricoh Arena.
