The first semi-final of the Advertiser Cup saw Hanson C defeat Hanson D 6-3, thanks to three from Nick George, two from Jamie Smith and one from Andy Barnes.

Hanson D started well, with Mike Cartridge beating Barnes and shortly afterwards defeating Smith. The result might have gone the other way if Smith had not clung on to beat Alex Powell 21-16, 18-21 & 21-16 and George not managed a 21-17. 19-21 & 21-17 win against the same player.

In the first quarter-final of the Weighill Trophy, Enham were surprisingly beaten 5-0 by 3D’s.

The crucial factor in this win were the defeats of Andy Farmer, firstly by Nicky Downs 18-21, 21-19 & 12-21, then by Marie Dyke 18-21, 21-18 & 20-21.

In Division 2 Hanson F lost 6-4 to Hanson E.

Three from Rhys Jones and two from Jonny Macey were enough for the E team, whilst Roy Horner’s two for Hanson F failed to prevent their defeat.

Test Valley A were defeated 7-3 by 3D’s, but Adam Lockington played very well to win his three for the A team.

Division 1 saw an unusual match when two man Hanson Lions lost to two man Tigers 6-3.

The shock of this match was Andy Snellgrove (Tigers) losing to Matt Carter (Lions) who played well to win 6-11, 11-7, 11-8 & 11-7.

Jerry Holt won his two to keep Tigers in front whilst Andy just managed to overcome Zac Hine 9-11, 9-11 & 9-11.

Puma’s kept up the pressure at the top of the table with a 6-4 win over Figheldean.

Richard Fettes was again the star for Pumas winning his three, ably supported by Ray Carver with two.

For Figheldean the steady Lionel Coles won two.

Hanson A and Hanson C fought out a 5-5 draw, thanks to three from Andy Barnes (C).

Steve Rollason (A) held on against Jamie Smith to win 13-11, 11-13, 13-15, 11-9 & 11-7, whilst Peter Henderson did the same to Nick George, winning 11-3, 10-12, 3-11, 11-8 & 11-4.

The C team snatched a draw by winning the doubles when Nick and Andy defeated Peter and Dan Geary 11-8, 3-11, 13-11, 6-11 & 12-14.

Hanson B, with two players, beat Wallop Wanderers 7-3, with both Colin Shepherd and Trevor Whitelock winning three each.
