Sway 1 Overton United 4.
Hampshire Intermediate Cup quarter-final.
Overton United’s excellent season continued on Saturday in the New Forest as they eased pased Bournemouth League side Sway to reach the semi-final of the Hampshire Intermediate Cup.
On a pitch which looked in good condition at the start Overton worked hard and on a very difficult surface which was going to cut up with every tackle it made it hard work for both teams in a gale force wind.
Overton started well and just past the half hour Myles Englefield and Chris Lavisher linked well before setting up Danny Houseman to slot home.
After the break Overton stepped up the tempo but  Sway fought back which meant the game became more physical and unsettled both teams with a number of yellow cards which seemed to give Overton the upper hand.
Just before the hour mark   man of the match Chris Morris put a perfect free-kick into the box and Houseman nodded the second.
Within five minutes a long ball caught out the Sway keeper who handled just outside his box and Houseman completed his hat-trick with a pin point free-kick.
More chances came and went but they kept pushing for the fourth which finally came on the 75th minute as the midfield four played the ball through to Chris Lavisher who took the ball round the keeper and shot into the empty net.
Overton took their foot off the pedal in the last five minutes which allowed Sway to net a consolation but there was no way back.
Manager Jamie Fewtrell was naturally delighted at his side’s performance. “Overton’s quality was just outstanding today - lots of slick passing and good possession of the ball in what was one of our best performances this season.”
