Overton United 5 Colden Common 0.

Hampshire Intermediate Cup 4th Rd.

Overton moved into the fifth round of the Hampshire Intermediate Cup after thrashing Colden Common on Saturday.

Despite all the bad weather the game was not in doubt and as expected Colden Common started with composure on the ball and looked sharp all over the pitch.

Although they generally had the upper hand early in the game their efforts on goal were limited to long range.

Overton took the lead against the run of play due to some very good work from the midfield who allowed Laith Aldoori to push on and take it past two defenders before letting fly from 25 yards out on the half hour mark.

This gave Overton the extra push they needed and for the rest of the half they dominated.

The second half started in the best possible way as only five minutes in Dave Parry went on a run past two defenders before finding Jordan Grant who was taken out in the penalty area and Danny Houseman stepped up and converted the spot kick to make it 2-0.

The game became more open and both teams created more chances but Overton looked more likely to score every time they went forward. The back four were outstanding in the second half as Ben Dibbern and Kieron Fuller both stood out and with James McCallion in midfield United looked solid with every attack.

After 72 minutes boss Jamie Fewtrell swapped Grant for Ross Cook and within five minutes he was brought down just inside the box and got up to fire in the second spot-kick and the game was all but over.

From the restart Overton's midfield won the ball straight back and Cook took it round two defenders and netted Overton's fourth.

Dave Parry made it 5-0 moments from the end of another impressive performance.
