Whitchurch United’s Wessex League Premier Division game with Bournemouth Poppies at Longmeadow on Tuesday seemed doomed from the start as after a 15 minute delay due to half the visiting side fighting a losing battle with a Sat Nav, a rain storm just before half-time prompted referee Nigel Gibbens to abandon the game with Jam Boys leading 1-0.
It was a frustrating night for the club who face three cup ties in the next three Tuesdays as well as a raft of league games and the weather is fast filling remaining spaces in the fixture list.
Isaac Sedu gave United the lead with a fine finish after latching onto Curtis Angell’s inch perfect pass but in the end it was in vain.
