Tadley Calleva 3 Andover Town 3.

Following Town’s defensive problems on Saturday they gifted Tadley three more on Tuesday night but came away with what could be a precious point come the end of April.

Within four minutes Town were on the back foot as a richochet and an air shot from Jake Wellesley-David gifted the first goal and soon after it was 2-0 after another error.

Lewis Benson had a shot parried before Tom Riddell missed the rebound and Michael Dixon also went close before the break.

Town regrouped and Dixon volleyed home to half the deficit on the hour before Lloyd Foot nodded across goal for Dixon to level five minutes later.

Poor marking led to Tadley taking the lead again, all three goals coming from former Whitchurch strikers, Brett Denham and Ashley Ledger but Town were not beaten and with ten minutes left Lewis Benson volleyed in at the back post for a share of the points.

Boss Neil Benson has endured better weeks in the brief life of Andover Town. “The Tadley game was frustrating as we dominated possession and they only had a few chances in the 90 minutes.

“We always knew from the start there would be very few easy games, especially as we are top of the table and clubs will up their game to beat us.

“However we are top at the half way stage and we are building a side capable of challenging. We have Petersfield and Team Solent coming up which will have a big bearing on promotion.

“You can’t account for individual errors and we conceded six goals in two games and the five we scored should have been enough.”

Benson is hopeful of completing the signing of Lewis Alderman from New Street before the game at Hayling United on Saturday.
