"We deserved the victory" -Street boss Styles
New Street boss Matt Styles was pleased to his side posted their first points and first win at Hayling United on Saturday although the day was naturally still marred by the recent loss of club stalwart John Coleman last week.
Jack Hutchings’ last minute winner gave Street the much needed boost and Styles said after: “We deserved the win as we played some good stuff from the back.
“We were under a bit of pressure for the first ten minutes and in the second half we lost our concentration for a while but the win was deserved although sometimes the place was too slow.”
Street’s squad was stronger than recent weeks despite losing Prince Xamela just before they were due to travel and a reshuffle was needed with Styles himself forced to take a place on the bench.
“Matt Davies, Mark Keogh and Keiron Reeves all did well and Cole Hinchcliffe was impressive again and this win will make all the difference” said Styles, who is running the New York Marathon shortly and had opted out of a playing role until after the event.
Ironically it was the boss himself who set up the winner for Hutchings after giving himself the last 15 minutes.
“A couple more wins and we could be up among the rest” he added.
Brad Stead and Tommy Gentleman are unavailable for Saturday's home game with Petersfield Town.
