Town boss Benson looking for 'positive reaction' at Ringwood on Saturday
Andover Town boss Neil Benson is looking for a positive reaction following last Saturday’s defeat at Team Solent.
“Seriously disappointed” was his summing up of the day where Tyler Betteridge was sent off and they suffered their first loss as a new team.
“They don’t need to be told what went wrong but they have only been together for ten weeks or so and there are bound to be hiccups.
“The yardstick will be after around six games as I have watched a fair bit of football in this league and I think I know it quite well.”
Town go to Ringwood Town tomorrow for the latest Wessex League Division One match which has been reversed and Benson is hoping that the trend in missing chances will end there.
“Maybe we thought the Team Solent game would be too easy after making a good start but in this competitive league we cannot afford to miss chances.”
A number of the side were at Sparsholt for some additional training during the week and Benson has a few niggly injuries to contend with but added :“The squad is strong enough to compete and we are looking forward to it.”
Town follow this game with a similar trip as they return to New Milton Town on September 7, for a league game having won there in the League Cup on the opening weekend.
The Under 18 side begin their campaign on the same day when they travel to Bath City in the SW Counties League, a match which at the moment will be staged at the famous old Twerton Park ground.
The Elite squad begin in the Conference Youth Alliance at Basingstoke Town on September 11 at 2pm.
