Defeat for Andover II on Saturday
Andover II went down to OT and Romsey II by 46 runs at London Road on Saturday despite a strong early showing with the bat and wickets for Jack McMahon (3-73), Luke Graham(2-57) and Phil Knight (3-41).
OT and Romsey batted first and despite losing Destafano and Trott early, Booth, Wathen and Whytehead all made useful runs. Collins’ 46 not out coming in at nine effectively tipped the balance in his side's favour as they posted 239 all out, one ball shy of 45 overs.
Steve Ott (71) and Harri Williams (46) got Andover off to a fine start before both were out and after Sean Purchase and Alex Thompson went cheaply Max Romer-Lee hit 26.
Sadly wickets contnued to tumble and Jos Clarke with 15 not out and McMahon (ten) got the total up to 198 all out in 38 overs.
The thirds game at Petersfield was rained off whle the Fourths wished their game went the same way as they were well beaten by St Marys.
Only Neil Pointer (14), Hallam Doney (14) and Eleanor Ingram (16) made double figures as they stumbled to 61 all out from 27 overs.
Vinothan’s 5-8 in six overs did the bulk of the damage.
In reply Neal and Lee kncoked off the runs in 13 overs for a comprehensive victory.
