Away win keeps Wallop on track for promotion

Old Alresford v Over Wallop.
With Old Alresford on 72 without loss after 16 overs, Over Wallop feared a chase in excess of 200 runs but in the end they cruised home by seven wickets.
The openers had enjoyed a little luck but the opening stand between Stanbrook and Little was producing dividends. Simon Mant steadied the flow of Alresford runs when Stanbrook was bowled in only his second over and he went on to finish his ten over spell with 4-34. Roy Cavill then produced an eight over spell of high quality spin to cause real danger for Old Alresford and suddenly the game changed dramatically and wickets were falling at regular intervals. Cavill took 5-26 runs and Alresford collapsed to 150 all out.
A boundary strewn 41 from opener Huw Rouse provided a good platform for the run chase and he was joined by Cavill in bullish mood. Half way through his not out innings of 67, a furious appeal for a caught behind was turned down by the umpire. Old Alresford then tried to blast him out with some short pitch bowling alternated with full tosses, some of which were over waist height. In the mood he was in this was futile as he dismissed the bowling with power and control. Joel Pinchbeck scored a handy 12 and Mant (10no) finished the game as Wallop won by seven wickets.
