Quarley-based Eurohatch racer Andy Coleman edged closer to the top of the championship pile with a trio of third place finishes at a sun baked Paices Hill raceway on Sunday.

Coleman piloted his Honda Civic to a podium finish which took him to within 14 points of leader Gary Johnson and 16 points clear of his step-father Chris Muspratt after the three heats and grand final.

Nineteen year old Andy is the youngest driver in the championship and is in his first year in non contact racing having begun in the rough and tumble of bangers.

Coleman said after his race on Sunday: “I am second at the moment but there is still plenty of racing to be done as the final meeting is not until November.”

He is hoping to upgrade his car and race at other tracks in the near4 future but meanwhile his aim id to challenge for the top spot and add to the half a dozen trophies that he has already accumulated
