Andover 6 Blandford and Sturminster 6.

A LATE strike denied Andover all three points in a thrilling 6-6 draw at home to Blandford and Sturminster in the snow.

With minutes remaining the visitors converted from a penalty corner to snatch a point and break Andover hearts.

Mark Frost gave Andover the lead early in the first half and despite Blandford drawing level a fine solo effort from Sam Cowley and a Jamie Hacker strike saw Andover deservedly enter the break on top at 3-2.

Blandford fought back immediately but Frost and Cowley were again able to find the goal in quick succession to complete their braces and give Andover some breathing space.

The tenacity of Blandford was admirable and they refused to lie down and again cut Andover’s advantage, however when Olly Bridge grabbed Andover’s sixth goal, finishing neatly at the back post after a fine passing move the game looked won.

The home side though couldn’t keep Blandford out and after winning a late penalty corner they duly converted it to rescue a point. Despite picking up a point Andover have dropped to tenth and travel to table-toppers Southampton University tomorrow.
