Pyle takes Hampshire GC February Medal

Sixty-eight members took part in The Hampshire Golf Club’s February Medal competitions and all set off in good heart, hoping for a good round.

However, most were disappointed once again as they did not finish up in the prizes. In the Saturday Division 1 competition, category one golfer Stephen Pyle (5) finished in pole position with a gross 78, net 73 in difficult conditions. Paul Harrison (10) came second, also with a net 73 but he lost on count back.

However he gained on handicapping as he now plays off nine. Gareth Hughes (19) was the victor in Division 2 with a fine net 66, which now sees his handicap reduced to 17. Vince Delderfield (19) was second with a net 70 and he too sees his handicap reduced to 17.

The Sunday Division 1 competition was won by Neil Macgowan (13) with a best of the weekend score of net 65, and he will play off 12 in his next competition. Will Gilson (7) also played well for his net 70 and second spot. It was Anthony Kissick (17) who took the honours in Division 2 with a net 72, and Gareth Hughes tried his luck again following his win on the Saturday but this time he had to settle for second place with a net 73.
