3D get the better of Enham
12:00am Friday 8th February 2013 in Andover
THE top of the table clash between Division 2 sides Enham and 3Ds resulted in a 4-6 win for 3Ds. Andrew Farmer for once did not win his three for Enham, as he was beaten by Zach Hine 11-6, 6-11, 6-11, 6-11, who went on to win his three. While this win for 3Ds helped their cause, they unfortunately shot themselves in the foot by failing to turn up and play their home match against Hanson D who did turn up and decided to claim the points.
Hanson D furthered their position at the top with a 10-0 win over Hanson E. Michael Cartridge, Alex Powell and Chris Farrar all won three, but for the opposition Chris Gregory played well to take all three of them to four games. The top match in Division One saw Tigers comprehensively beat third in the table Pumas 7-3. Malcolm Cummins and Andy Snellgrove retained their 100 per cent records by winning three each. Malcolm was made to battle harder than normal to overcome Richard Fettes 11-7, 10-12, 5-11, 11-7, 11-7 while Andy had to come back from two games down against Shaun Carver 7-11, 2-11, 11-3, 11-9, 11-4. Shaun had an earlier tussle with Jerry Holt before winning 11-4, 12-14, 11-6, 8-11, 9-11. Wolversdene A easily defeated Test Valley A 10-0, resulting in three each for Manish Chitnis, Steve Harris and Trevor Whitelock. A two man Test Valley A then played Hanson B and managed a creditable 2-8 defeat with Paul Raymond winning two out of three. Richard Biles was undefeated for Hanson B.
Hanson A defeated Wallop Wanderers 10-0 with Peter Henderson, Josh White and Dan Geary getting three each. Wallop’s Rob Macey was unlucky not to win at least one, as he lost to Josh White 9-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-7, and then to Dan Geary 8-11, 11-5, 11-9, 4-11, 11-4.
Hanson C suffered a 3-7 defeat at the hands of Figheldean. Lionel Coles managed three wins for Figheldean but two for Hanson’s Nick George kept the match interesting.
