Paul victory leads to Whitchurch Vets success
3:47pm Wednesday 23rd January 2013 in Andover
Whitchurch Vets II v Winchester Vets.
Identical team players turned up for the reverse fixture with Whitchurch seeking revenge for the away match which they won 2-1 in October.
Erdogan Ince, at one, although against a much higher ranked player, managed another convincing 3-0 win.
Captain Rob King, at two, was desperate to revenge the away 3-2 defeat, particularly as he had led 2-0 before injuring himself in the third.
Rob lost the first game 10-9 after squandering several game points. He eventually lost 3-1.
With the match level, the responsibility rested totally with Paul Hood, at three. He lost the first 9-5, but romped to a 9-0 victory in the second, en route to a 3-1 success.
Chichester Vets II v Whitchurch Vets.
Whitchurch failed to complete the double against Chichester.
Neil Niven, at one, was trying to improve on a 3-0 drubbing but his tactics and game plan failed again and he suffered another whitewash.
Mike Strong, at three, against their skilled but slow captain, managed to use the whole court to expose his stamina and mobility limits, winning tidily 3-0.
Richard Baker, at two, looked a certainty as the game started but then injured his leg on the third rally.
He continued despite the pain to lose the first game closely, then after some treatment remarkably won the second.
His condition deteriorated and he lost 3-1.
