Lions’ cup fall
2:42pm Wednesday 31st October 2012 in Andover
Poison 4 Andover Lions 1 ANDOVER Lions crashed out of the North Hants Intermediate Cup at the first hurdle against Basingstokebased opposition.
They started poorly and were always on the back foot as their more competitive opponents dominated in all areas.
It was no surprise when they fell behind on 15 minutes and four minutes later their opponents helped themselves to an identical second.
It was half an hour before Andover had their first attempt on goal when Reynolds crossed for Hind who volleyed over.
Lions were slowly regaining their composure and five minutes before the break Reynolds again created a chance from the right which Darren Paris put over.
A minute later Paris had a free-kick saved at the second attempt.
Hopes of a comeback were dashed on the stroke of half-time when a long ball ended with a penalty which was despatched.
Soon after the break Paris hit a fierce shot that the keeper tipped onto the post then the dangerous Reynolds had a shot from a narrow angle beaten out.
After Poison broke to take a four-goal lead, the Lions replied with 13 minutes left through Hind.
Tomorrow Lions are without a fixture as the scheduled match with Lyndhurst has been rescheduled for November 10.
