Macey ‘gutted’ by loss
2:41pm Wednesday 31st October 2012 in Andover
Whitchurch United 1 Brockenhurst 2
WHITCHURCH manager Jim Macey saw his side lose to Wessex League Division 1 high-flyers Brockenhurst – but insisted his side deserved a point.
“I am gutted, but they are the best team we have faced this season.”
The hosts had Chris Smalley back in their line-up and he opened the scoring as he headed home a Luke Walker corner.
The Brock keeper saved well from George Dallarda and just before the break Brock levelled. They started the better after the break, but ’Church also had their chances with Paul Coventry having an effort tipped over then Dallarda failed to beat the ’keeper oneon- one.
Brock grabbed their winner with ’Church appeals for a foul waved away.
The hosts nearly equalised as Smalley rounded the keeper, but his shot was cleared off the line.
