Andover Hinds 66 Basingstoke Cavaliers 0
TABLE-TOPPING Hinds continued the excellent start to the season with a high-scoring victory.
Rich Woodley started the spree with two penalties.
Strong running from man of the match Matt Moore and Aaron Styles provided the platform for some excellent link up play to allow Andy Franklin to get quick ball out to the backs.
With Jonny Rogers pulling the strings at fly half, a good pass found Henry Rennison to go over for the first try.
Joby Shearing provided a great offload to Matt Stott to go over and Woodley converted to take the score to 18-0.
The Andover pack was dog-like all afternoon with Steve Rogerson stealing ball against the head.
The dominance paid off as Franklin made a decoy run to provide space for Andy Dawkins to crash over in the corner.
Dawkins was forced to leave the field with an injury and replacement Declan Gillian made an immediate impact.
Rogers again found Rennison running an outstanding line to carve through for his second of the day.
Woodley converted to make it 30-0.
Bennett picked up a loose ball to score before Jonny Rogers intercepted to run in a try from 70 metres out.
Woodley converted to make the half-time score 42-0.
Within minutes of the restart both teams were a man down as Heggie and the Basingstoke No 8 were sin-binned.
The referee had no option but to make the scrummages passive.
Within minutes Gillian broke from the scrum to score in the corner then interplay between Tim Smith and the returning Pete Mort found Dave Catt, who weaved through to score in the corner.
Excellent handling again destroyed the opposition and Leon Taylor was on hand to score on his return with Andy Franklin converting.
With the last play, Franklin burst through a gap to score. His conversion made the final score 66-0.
