Toby Lambert (Winchester AC) dominated the Lordshill 10k, breaking away from the pack early on and maintaining his advantage to the finish line to win in a time of 32 minutes 38 seconds.

Ian Hapgood (Bournemouth AC) was second in 33:17 secs. Third man home came up from Cornwall AC to compete as part of a weekend break, so the trip to Hampshire for Justin Thomas was entirely justified with a time of 33:58.

The women’s race had another Winchester stalwart taking the honours but only after some jockeying for position during the race.

For the first 4km, Ellie Monks (Southampton AC) headed the field, but was given close company from Kath Bailey (Winchester) and Valerie Sesto (New Forest).

Once the heat intensified Bailey made better of the conditions to creep ahead of Sesto as they raced to the line at Ordnance Survey, winning in 38:10. Sesto was four seconds back in second, while Monks marked her 10k debut with a time of 38:58.
