Dina Asher-Smith and Zharnel Hughes made it a 100 metres golden double for Great Britain at the European Championships.
In a dazzling run, Asher-Smith became the first British woman to win the European crown since Dorothy Hyman in 1962.
She clocked 10.85 seconds to set a new British record – beating her own mark – at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
She remains on track for a treble bid as she aims to defend her 200m title and help claim the 4x100m relay gold.
Hughes claimed the men’s title in a championship record of 9.95 seconds, pipping team-mate Reece Prescod who took the silver medal.
Great Britain were denied a clean sweep in the men’s race by Turkey’s Ali Harvey as CJ Ujah came fourth, crossing the line in 10.06secs.
Asher-Smith was thrilled with her gold, telling the BBC: “I am so happy. To run a 10.8 in the championships is a big deal.
“I did everything right. I was so happy to nail it in the final because I know there are so many talented people around me but you have to ignore that.
“I am hoping to do the same thing that I did today in Tokyo (at the 2020 Olympics).”
