BRITISH Touring Car racer Rob Collard will be hoping to built on his excellent start to the driver’s championship this Easter Sunday at Donington.

Collard enjoyed a podium finish in the BTTC at Brands Hatch as part of three top 10 places leaving him fifth in the driver's standings.

The Hook driver will hope to guide his West Surrey Racing BMW to more success at the East Midlands venue.

Last year he won the second race from sixth on the grid.

Collard said: “Donington is a fantastic circuit; the track where I took my first win of 2016 and one I love, despite it tending to favour front-wheel-drive cars.

"I achieved my first podium in the BTCC at Donington, and I’ve won there twice in BMWs, so that gives me a lot of encouragement heading into the weekend.

Collard added: "What fills me with even more confidence is that the BMW was fast around Brands Hatch and that we were able to show this in race conditions, so I think we can amass a good points haul this weekend.”

Also in action at Donington, will be Rob’s youngest son Jordan, in one of the support races the Ginetta Junior Championship.

All the BTCC races on Sunday will be shown live on ITV4 in a programme which runs from 10.45am until 6.15pm.
